Expectations for upcoming 2nd graders
- Should know basic addition and subtraction
- Be able to follow simple directions
- Know full name, a contact phone number at all times, and personal information
- Know all letters and sounds
- Know basic sight words
- Must be able to write legibly
- Should be able to tie your shoes
- Be able to read 44 words per minute (at the start of school in August)
- Be able to read independently
- Must have self-control and respect for others
- Know how to count by 2's, 5's, and 10's (skip count)
- Basic knowledge of coins and their worth
- Shapes
- Basic punctuation
- Differences between questions and statements
